Here are the best toothache remedies that you help you in dealing with throbbing tooth pain and its symptoms.

1. Salt Water:

Salt acts as an antibacterial, analgesic, anti-inflammatory and drying agent that cleans the mouth and draw out the fluids which causing pain and swelling.
Steps to be followed…
  • Mix 1 tablespoon of salt in 1 glass of warm water.
  • Stir well and use it to gargle.
  • Make sure to spit out the water after gargling.
  • Repeat the same process for 2 – 3 times a day till you get relief from a toothache.
Note: Or salt mixed with pepper is also a great combination used for toothache relief. Mix equal quantities of common salt and black pepper powder with few drops of water to make it a fine paste. Apply it on the affected tooth and rinse your mouth after few minutes.

2. Clove Oil:

Cloves have antibacterial, antioxidant, anesthetic and anti – inflammatory properties that help to alleviate tooth pain and other dental problems.
Steps to be followed…
  • Pour 3 – 5 drops of clove oil on a cotton ball.

  1. Onions have antimicrobial and antiseptic properties that clear the pain. Chew a raw onion or place it on the affected tooth to get rid of the pain.
  2. Chewing 2 – 3 tender guava leaves (or raw spinach leaves or peppermint leaves) till the juice comes out will work well for treating toothache.
  3. Even a vanilla extract will also work well in treating toothache, as it numbs the pain and thus gives calming effect. Dip a cotton ball in vanilla extract and dab it on the affected areas for few times a day.
  4. Ice alleviates the tooth pain by numbing the nerve endings. Simply wrap small ice cubes in a thin cloth (or cold compress) and place it on the cheek where your tooth is aching for few minutes.
  5. Regularly have your dental checkups to know all about your teeth and gum conditions. Also, cover the broken tooth (or a tooth with lost filling) with a soft chewing gum to prevent the pain and discomfort.
  6. In certain cases, acupressure can also help to stop the tooth pain. Just apply some pressure with your thumb on the back of other hand where the base of your thumb and index finger meet for not less than 2 – 3 minutes. This trigger the endorphins release to get rid of the pain.
